Tis the Season for BLOOD!

“I vant to suck ur BLOOD!”, is what Count Dracula would say.  All we’re saying is “Save a Life this Halloween … give some blood before you head out to Trick or Treat!”

Did you know,

  • Someone needs blood every two seconds.
  • 4.5 million Americans could die each year without life-saving blood transfusions.
  • Red blood cells are perishable after 42 days. Platelets must be used within five days.
  • Platelets help blood clot and can help give cancer, transplant and trauma patients a chance to live.
  • Most donors don’t know they can donate quarterly. Currently, 60% of blood donors only donate once a year.
  • A unit of blood is roughly the equivalent of one pint.
  • The average adult has ten pints of blood in his or her body.

Here are several opportunities for you to share your blood and have some fun …

Post Garage Sale Drop-Off

Well, Community Service Truckthe 2nd semi annual “Post Garage Sale Drop-Off” was another HUGE success! As we did for the 2010 spring Steiner Ranch Garage Sale, this fall garage sale in Steiner Ranch the Gene Arant Real Estate Team set up their post garage sale drop-off station. We took any and everything that Steiner Rancher’s had to donate. Loaded it all up in a series of 4 full moving truck loads and delivered to the Settlement Home and to a number of east Austin school’s who used the items to raise money’s for their schools and students.

When you sit back and think about the excess most of us have and how willing so many were to give theirs up is amazing.  Gene and I are consistently reminded and consequently thankful for not only how beautiful our Steiner Ranch community is but also how beautiful our Steiner Ranch community people are! Thank you all for turning out to serve others that are not as blessed as we all may be in the monetary world and may you all be blessed!

Concert in the Park in Steiner Ranch

As if we need to share more reasons Austin is the coolest place to live but here is another …  Even out by Lake Travis, in the lovely suburbs, we have some kickin’ music & entertainment.  It’s time again for the 3rd annual Concert in the Park in Steiner Ranch, Austin, TX.  This is a fun, free, family event and once again the Gene Arant Real Estate team is honored to be one of the sponsors!  This year the Capital Area Food Bank is the recipient of any profits and there will be collection containers for non-perishable, non-glass, food items for admission. Visit austinfoodbank for more details of items needed. Our Community Service Truck will be there to load the items and deliver.

After having our “Cool Corner” set-up last year with a ginormous Port-o-Cool fan and groovy hand fans, we decided to keep the “Cool” theme this year and are setting up an original Gene design, massive water slide.  You won’t want to miss it.  We of course will again be handing out our handy dandy (much needed) hand fans to aid in the heat.  Check out www.SteinerRanchConcerts.com for more information of other activities and restaurants selling food items. Also watch the video to see all the fun we had last year.  So mark your calendars … Saturday, August 21st from 5:00 to 9:00 for Steiner Ranch Concert in the Park 2010.

We look forward to seeing you all there!
